New York City Metro: Harriet Shugarman, aka Climate Mama, Executive Director and Founder of.ClimateMama.com is appearing live on 24 Hours of Reality, an international multi media event created by former Vice President Al Gore and his Climate Reality Project. Harriet is a District Managers for The Climate Reality Project and will be taking part in one of the panel discussions. Harriet is also one of ony two alternate presenters worldwide, for the program.
24 Hours of Reality: 24 Presenters, 24 Time Zones, 13 Languages, and one message. Climate Change is real and is happening NOW. The Project will be available over many networks, and can also be seen at the Climate Reality Project website, beginning at 8pm ET September 14, 2011 closing out at 7pm ET from New York City, with a presentation by Al Gore.
“I am honored and humbled to play a small part in this incredible event, where we will share the reality of the climate crisis with individuals around the world. I believe that this event will be a jolt to the growing grassroots movements around the world that are fighting climate change. As well, it will help build momentum to counter the inaccuracies and misinformation of climate change deniers,” said Shugarman.
On August 23, 2011, Harriet Shugarman, along with 62 other individuals from all over the United States, were arrested in front of the White House as they sought to raise attention to the environmental and climate change dangers of a proposed pipeline that would travel from Canada to Texas and would carry tar sands oil, perpetuating our addiction to fossil fuels. Over a two week period in late August and early Septemer, over 1,200 people were arrested.
About Harriet Shugarman: Climate Mama Executive Director and Founder, Harriet Shugarman, has worked on environmental issues for many years.
