World-leading watchmaker, Citizen Watches, is continuing its concerted push into the Middle East market by further strengthening its retail presence. The Japanese maker of timepieces that are renowned for the use of cutting edge technology and innovation, have launched their new store in Sharjah City Centre as part of their ongoing foray into high-value retailing in the region.
Speaking at the launch of the new store, Mr. Noboru Yamaguchi, General Manager of the Middle East office of Citizen Watches Gulf Co. said: Since we successfully started our retail operations in the Middle East with the opening of our first exclusive store in Lamcy Plaza, Dubai in 2009, we have continued to increase our presence across this market with several stores in the UAE, KSA, Oman and Egypt”.
Speaking about the company’s future expansion strategies, Yamaguchi said: “The company plans to open several more points of sale in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia. In the UAE we will open two more stores this summer, the first in Dubai Mall and the second will be in Central Souq in Abu Dhabi. In Saudi Arabia, we have opened 3 stores so far this year and we will add five more stores before the end of the year. In total we plan to add 20 more stores in UAE and 50 stores in KSA by 2013.”
“The exclusive store helps to give the customer a better understanding of the brand and its offering. This concept has proved to be very successful in many markets, especially in China and South East Asia. In China, Citizen currently operates 1010 exclusive point of sales and plans to take the number to 1100 by the end of 2012,” Mr. Yamaguchi added.
