Delphin ProfiMessage Boasts High-Speed, High Resolution

CAS DataLoggers has partnered with Delphin Technology to offer the new Delphin ProfiMessage Data Acquisition System, the latest generation in Delphin’s Message family of systems used around the world in many different data logging, data acquisition and testing applications. ProfiMessage is a cutting-edge modular measurement system utilizing a wide range of different I/O modules available for any number of channels and sensor types. Master and slave devices easily handle both small and large applications with high speed, high precision measurements. ProfiMessage devices process any signal fast and reliably from just a few thermocouples right up to thousands of measurement points spread over several plant areas, all at an economical price. ProfiMessage network-compatible systems see frequent use in multi-channel data acquisition, quality assurance, monitoring and alarm management, test engineering, research and development, laboratory data acquisition, and test stand automation.

The ProfiMessage system functions as a powerful intelligent data logger with its analog and digital sensor signals recording data simultaneously to up to 16GB of internal memory, enabling subsequent data analysis and evaluation of up to several billion data measurement points.  This sophisticated device has 2 slots for analog or digital input or output cards and can handle 30 analog inputs or 48 digital inputs measuring at a high accuracy with up to 24-bit resolution. Universal inputs ensure that costly measurement transducers are usually not necessary, and potential isolation between channels as well as differential inputs saves users both time and money.

Measurement data is stored with extremely high time resolution, making it particularly suited for fault identification and diagnostics systems. USB and Ethernet interfaces provide convenient data accessibility, either manually or automatically according to preset time plans. Modems can also be attached so that users can utilize the ProfiMessage as a fully-independent monitoring system for remote machinery and vehicles. Easy to configure and operate, the ProfiMessage’s industrial-grade, compact modular design also makes for easy cabinet installations.

ProfiMessage inputs and outputs are galvanically isolated, providing isolation from channel to channel, from the power supply and from the PC. This unique system architecture prevents damaging ground loops and enables problem-free measurements. Depending on the type of I/O module used, each precision, differential input can be configured separately to measure mV, mA, RTDs, and all types of thermocouples. ProfiMessage is also equipped with digital inputs functioning as status or frequency inputs, as well as signal conditioning within the device and screw terminal connections. Profibus-DP, Modbus or CAN-bus interfaces enable connections to PLC control systems for data exchange. The four serial interfaces can function under different protocols, allowing communications with different types of equipment. An expansion bus allows up to 20 slave devices to connect to the master device enabling systems with hundreds of channels.

ProfiMessage's LAN interface maximizes data accessibility and transmits all measurement data online, including software channels, at high speed via Intranet or Internet. Any networked PC can then access the ProfiMessage via this interface. Additional TCP services such as NTP, FTP, HTTP and SFPMP etc. are also available. The device's internal data memory can also be read out via LAN.

The ProfiSignal universal software is suited for data acquisition, test automation and data acquisition applications, enabling online/offline analysis, visualization and operation from any PC workstation as well as PC-controlled process automation and database communications via ODBC/SQL. The representation of the channels is a clear and intuitive operation similar to Windows Explorer. All measured values can be transferred online stores and will work on PCs or servers. The visualization or analysis is done with the ProfiSignal software dolphin or OPC Server with any software, providing users with up to 1000 times higher time resolution when compared with a SCADA system.

Monitoring and automation tasks are performed using ProfiMessage internal software channels, pre-defined function modules that users generate, configure and then run within the device. These channels also enable functions including threshold value monitoring, mathematical integration, and online computations. Users can program their own monitoring or record-keeping systems into the device without needing any IT expertise, quickly and effectively deploying the ProfiMessage for their daily operations. All functions are performed autonomously by the powerful internal processor, guaranteeing full operational security.
