CALL OF DUTY WINS THE WAR FOR CHRISTMAS NUMBER 1
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has just been released and bookmaker Paddy Power is tipping it at 1/6 to be the Number 1 selling video game this Christmas.
Not only is the sequel to Modern Warfare 1, which sold more than 12 million copies, the red-hot favourite to be top of the charts this Christmas but bookies Paddy Power are also betting 9/4 it will stay at Number 1 for a whopping eleven weeks or more, and 1/3 that it will become the biggest selling game of all time!
Over the last few years betting on which video game will hold the top spot in the charts on Christmas Day has become big business with the bookies. Thousands of pounds are gambled on the race to the top spot but Paddy Power are expecting betting to be a lot quieter this year!
Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power explains: “This year there’s no battle to be had. We’re expecting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to command the top spot on the video games chart for weeks. No other video game will get a look in this year, there’s just no contest so that will naturally affect our betting.”
