BOD TIPPED FOR IRB WORLD PLAYER NOD

Grand Slam winning Irish captain Brian O’Driscoll has been installed as the red-hot 4/11 favourite by bookies Paddy Power to win this year’s IRB World Player of the Year award.  Fellow team mate Jamie Heaslip also features in the betting at somewhat longer odds of 10/1.

A total of seven players have made it onto this year’s shortlist; Australia’s Matt Giteau, Tom Croft of England, South Africans Francois Steyn and Fourie du Preez, Richie McCaw of New Zealand along with the Ireland duo. The winner will be announced at the end of the November international window.

Paddy Power said “It’s hardly a big secret that O’Driscoll is the best there is, but it’s about time his greatness was recognised.  Although with a Heineken Cup and a Grand Slam already in the bag this year he’ll have to get a bigger trophy cabinet for Christmas!”
