BLOOMBERG MILLIONS TURN MAYORAL ELECTION INTO ONE HORSE RACE

Unlike the Presidential race in Europe, New Yorkers have been given the chance to democratically elect their next leader as the Big Apple goes to the polls to vote in the Mayoral Elections next Tuesday.

However bookie Paddy Power’s latest betting suggests it could be a one horse race with current Mayor Michael Bloomberg the 1/80 favourite to win a third term in office. At 12/1 rival Bill Thompson seemingly has an impossible task to pull off a shock result as Bloomberg dips into his vast personal fortune to ensure

Such is Bloomberg’s dominance he is even an 8/11 favourite to win the election when Paddy Power gives Thompson a 15% head start in the vote.

Paddy Power said: “Bloomberg’s millions will almost certainly win him a third term as New York mayor. He may be accused of buying an election victory but it’s made it very hard for any challenger to get a look in.”

With The Bronx the only borough of New York that Bloomberg lost in last time round Paddy Power are also betting on how much of the vote the mayor will secure next week in his rebel borough. Its 9/2 he secures more than 50% of the vote with 41-45% deemed most likely at 6/4.
