BECKHAM TO IMPRESS AGAINST OLD CLUB?

BECKHAM TO IMPRESS AGAINST OLD CLUB?

16/1 for ex-United star to score from a free-kick, 7/2 favourite to swap shirts with old pal Paul Scholes

Monday 15th February 2010 – David Beckham is 16/1 to score a free kick and just 4/1 to score against his old club tomorrow, according to bookmakers Boylesports.

Beckham faces Manchester United and his old boss Sir Alex Ferguson for the first time since leaving the club in 2003, as the Premier League Champions travel to the San Siro to face AC Milan in their first match in the knockout phase of the Champions League. Becks is 40/1 to be shown a red card and 500/1 to repeat his infamous feat of scoring from inside his own half tomorrow.

‘Goldenballs’ will be reunited with his ex-teammates, notably Paul Scholes, who he came up through the ranks with and Gary Neville, with whom he formed a formidable partnership on the right flank. Boylesports offer a market on who Beckham will swap his shirt with at the end of the match, with Scholes the 7/2 favourite and Neville at 6/1 alongside Beckham’s England colleagues Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand.

“Beckham’s first game against United is a big story, and all eyes will be on him tomorrow,” comments Boylesports Head of PR Leon Blanche. “We think he’s in with a good chance of getting a goal and I’m sure even some United fans would secretly love to see him do so – as long as their team still get through to the next stage of course!”
