Cobham-based coaching and recruitment agency, Back2workmum, celebrated its first birthday this week (Wednesday 27 January) with a champagne reception lunch and celebrity guest speaker at The Talbot Inn, Ripley, near Guildford and Woking.

An audience of around 40 women from across Surrey gathered to network with one another and listen to a motivational speech from Saira Khan, star of the BBC Apprentice programme and founder of the natural baby skincare range Miamoo.  Saira shared her experiences of starting a business and getting back into work after having a baby, citing a will to succeed and the confidence to be loud and proud of her products and services as key to her success.

The event was organised by Back2workmum founder and owner, Naz Lewis, who is herself a mum juggling work commitments with motherhood.  Naz launched the business at the beginning of 2009 when she recognised there was a real need for an organisation, in Surrey, that provided help to mums who wanted to return to the workplace but didn’t know where to start.

“It was a wonderful afternoon with record attendance and it was a pleasure to meet so many hardworking and inspirational women running their own businesses and working here in Surrey.”

“When I started Back2workmum, flexible working roles for women with children were few and far between.  A year on I am pleased to say this has definitely improved and companies are now beginning to recognise the value of employing such women.”

“It’s been a great first year and I am delighted we celebrated our first birthday in style with Saira Khan and a host of local likeminded women.  My ambition is for Back2workmum to become the leading recruitment agency in Surrey for part-time and flexible working so here’s looking forward to 2010!”
