2nd Annual KidsFest Set for JUNE 9 & 10, 2012

(SAN DIEGO, CA) KidsFest— San Diego County’s largest hands-on, creative festival for children and their families— announced today that the 2nd annual Festival will run June 9-10, 2012.  The event will transform acres of historic Liberty Station (NTC Promenade) into a wonderland of pure play and creative fun, with activities designed to stimulate and celebrate the imagination.

KidsFest spans over 100,000 square feet of hands-on stations where kids can move, sing, sculpt, create, paint, plant, dance, build, and just simply escape in pure play.  A plethora of familiar, well-known National and local sponsors underwrite many of the events and activities.  Tickets are All-Inclusive, so all the activities inside are included.  A few of the many activities include:

• The Messy Zone

• Make-and-Take Creation Station

• Dance Party

• Green Thumb Market – for future gardeners

• Build-It Construction Square – for the industrial type

• Sweet Studio – for young chefs

• Bubble Zone – endless fun for toddlers

“KidsFest was inspired by watching the sheer joy on my daughter’s face when we’d unplug and play together in ways that involved imagination, creativity and often making something simple into something fantastic”, said executive director Robin Laatz.  “Sometimes we’d repurpose boxes and cartons into giant hand-painted murals or craft sculptures from homemade Play-Doh.  I think it’s the best type of time we spend together.”

KidsFest is designed for families to explore and play together while encouraging hands-on involvement, emphasizing repurposing and recycling and most of all, letting their imaginations run free!  A full weekend of fun, KidsFest runs Saturday and Sunday, June 9-10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are ALL-INCLSIVE at $18 (kids under 2 free) and can be purchased online at kidsfestsandiego (dot) com
